Yogyakarta, September 30, 2026 — STAI Masjid Syuhada Yogyakarta continues to strengthen its academic and research networks through a collaborative research project with UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, presented at the 10th International Da’wah Conference (IDACON) 2026.
The international conference was organized by the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, under the theme “Da’wah, Humanity, and Global Coexistence: Repositioning Religion in a Fragmented World.” STAI Masjid Syuhada Yogyakarta was represented by Dr. Yumidiana Tya Nugraheni, M.Pd., who presented the collaborative research entitled “The Boundaries of Da‘i Responsibility in the Qur’an: A Comparative Analysis of Q.S. Al-Kahf Verse 6 on Asaf and Preachers’ Mental Health.” The research explores the boundaries of a da‘i’s responsibility from the Qur’anic perspective, focusing on Q.S. Al-Kahf verse 6 and the concept of asaf, or profound grief. The study also connects Qur’anic interpretation with Viktor E. Frankl’s logotherapy to examine its relevance to the mental health and psychological resilience of preachers.
The findings highlight that a da‘i is responsible for delivering the message, providing clarification, and becoming a role model. However, the acceptance of the message and the behavioral transformation of the mad‘u are ultimately beyond the preacher’s complete control. Understanding this boundary is important for helping preachers maintain a healthy perspective on their responsibilities and avoid measuring the success of da’wah solely by the response of their audience.
The study further emphasizes the importance of finding meaning in da’wah activities. By understanding da’wah as a meaningful spiritual responsibility, preachers can maintain a balance between their concern for the mad‘u, acceptance of human limitations, and their own psychological resilience. Participation in IDACON 2026 reflects STAI Masjid Syuhada Yogyakarta’s commitment to strengthening research culture, expanding academic collaboration, and contributing to contemporary Islamic scholarship. The collaboration with UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya also provides an opportunity to develop broader academic networks and encourage interdisciplinary research on da’wah and contemporary issues.
STAI Masjid Syuhada Yogyakarta remains committed to promoting research and academic collaboration that connect Islamic scholarship with the needs and challenges of today’s society.
